I have a cold everybody. I got all through winter without getting sick. I don't have any medicine, except for two bottles of prescription shit and I have no idea what it is. This inspired me to wonder about folk remedies.
You guys know any? _________________ Grumbled by Thargor, typed by rats |

These are a few remedies my granny used to utlize when she had a cold. I remember inhaling steam till I was dizzy in the head and gargling with salt water to clear out all that junk in your throat!
CHICKEN SOUP: Good for rehydration, since the body loses lots of water through coughing, a running nose or feverish sweating. It has to be replenished by drinking a lot or eating soup. Soup is also hot, which helps loosen the mucus of a cough. You could try putting garlic in the soup which has antibiotic and antiviral activities. To make the most of its properties, try using fresh garlic!
INHALING STEAM: This works wonders on a clogged up nose, and it’s as easy as pie. Just fill a pot with hot water and add a couple of drops of eucalyptus oil. Then use a big towel to trap the steam, crawl under it and breathe deeply. Being stuck under a towel with your head over a steaming bowl might look a little silly, but it helps. Instead of the eucalyptus oil, chamomile can also be used.
And it's also very good for the skin! Your cheeks will feel smooth as a baby's bum after you've had your 'steam bath'.
HONEY AND LEMON: Great soothers of sore throats. Honey has a soothing thickness and makes swallowing easier. It's kind of like a ‘honey trap’ for bacteria, making it more difficult for them to move around. Lemon stimulates the production of saliva, which makes swallowing less painful and contains lots of vitamin C. If you want the full ‘honey trap’ and vitamin C effect, just mix lemon juice with honey and lick it off the spoon. Or, if you like a hot drink better, just squeeze a lemon and add honey and hot water. The only drawback is that you’ll lose some vitamin C because of the heat. My grandpa also used to drink coke with honey and lots of lemon . . . yuck! But it helped.
GARGLING WITH SALT WATER: Salt has disinfecting properties, so helps against the infection. Gramma used to rub it onto wounds all the time (OUCH). I'm not completely sure how it works, but the salt water draws out the bad stuff. You can also use this to rinse your nose, kind of like a barbaric version of nose spray.
I hope this helps! _________________ Charas, topics and plotlines~

Wasn't really looking for genuine help, but thanks. I'm looking more for the weird, or interesting remedies.
Also, I've been gargling with salt water about every 6 hours or so. _________________ Grumbled by Thargor, typed by rats |

Ancient Egyptians believed that bats blood would aid eye infections and cure blindness. They thought that bats had very good night vision, and that quality would go over to the ailing patient. _________________ Grumbled by Thargor, typed by rats |

*laughs* People have told me I'm too serious sometimes.
In Japan they say: "The stupid cannot catch a cold." So if you lose your brains, you'll never get a cold again! _________________ Charas, topics and plotlines~
