Mikael sighed tiredly and wiped some sweat from his brow. The sun was hot. The road was long. And somehow he had managed to get stuck with the duty of carrying all the bags. He wondered why? Dragging his feet through the dirt and shifting the heavy load on his shoulders, he glanced up. A few feet ahead of him was one of the prettiest beings he had ever encountered. The Creator, she called herself. Heh. He spat on the ground. What kind of name was that?! But as she continued walking, with her hips swaying sexily along with her steps, he instantly remembered how he had landed in this situation. Damn those women and their sexiness! How could he ever resist?!

A beautiful woman. A long trip away from home. Adventure. By the time she mentioned 'Flying Machine' he had already packed his bags and practically ran out the door. He was made for adventure! Finally he had a good excuse to leave his workshop and go explore the world! The thoughts of learning new techniques to improve his machines made him feel giddy to the bone. Especially if he could find someone who was able to build a flying machine! He smiled goofily to himself. Right now he was her apprentice ...sort of. Somehow he felt like she just needed a mule to carry her bags.

"Are we there yeeeet??" he whined, his stomach churning in unison.

Even though it was a hot day Zithen was slender, and didn't retain heat very well. Keeping at a walking pace wasn't something that would tire him. As he walked, he enjoyed the warm rays of the sun. He closed his eyes and felt the warmth on his face. He had his usual outfit on, the sweater and black feathers didn't bother him at all. His wings were folded behind him like a maroon leather cape- the horns were crossed and locked together as he had no intention of flying any time soon.

Zithen was on a light walk, however a light walk for Zithen was a brutal travel for a human. He went out past his home city to reach some new territories and to enjoy the scenery around him. he had traveled many times outside the city before, but it was usually alone. He was enjoying his paced walk for quite a while before an annoying sound of dragging feet reached his ears and ruined his inner peace. He turned to his head looking at a usual sight on the road. A man being a gentleman for a woman. Or in Zithen's mind-- a man being used by a woman. Women were such sly creatures. He chuckled lightly at the thought of it.

But he wouldn't mind lending a hand to the poor soul. After all, he had the strength for it. Sure, he wasn't as strong as most Cratiles, but he was more strong than the average human. He decided to lend a hand. His eyes narrowed and he came up to the stranger carrying the luggage. He used a calming voice with his arms outstretched, "Would you like a hand with that?"

The heat was brutal. Normally The Creator found travelling from city to city quite painless—even pleasant—but something about a heat wave just made any bit of travelling seem much longer and excruciating.

At The Creator’s side, she carried a bag and a flask of water—much less luggage than her ‘student’, but what was in that baggage was vastly more important than anything she had passed over to Mikael. It was small, 3D model she had built of a potential engine that could be used in a flying machine. Just thinking about it, she couldn’t help but get a smug little grin on her face. She couldn’t wait to start working on the real thing.

As the gears in her head began going over her ideas for the engine, The Creator picked up her flask and took a sip of water. She then poured a little into her hand, and dapped the cold water on her forehead and chest. Bloody heat…

“Are we there yeeeet??"

Broken from her thoughts, The Creator glanced back at her…’student’, or whatever it is she should call him, and narrowed her eyes.

“No,” she replied simply to the other, before flicking her hand and splashing a few drops of water at Mikael’s face.

She then turned away and continued down the path. Why on earth did she agree to take on a student again? It was rather atypical of her—she generally preferred to work alone. But then again, she had never met anyone she considered working with, before. Normally, anyone who approached her with an interest in ‘working’ with her had a far greater interest in studying her anatomy than any sort of machinery.

But Mikael—his fascination with creating a flying machine was very real. He was a bright young man too—certainly not as experienced as her, but he had real ideas and obviously dedicated much of his time to inventing. Hell, the moment she made some sort of mention in being interested in creating a machine that could fly, the boy was already packing up to join her. Much to her surprise, he was even still full of nothing but pure enthusiasm even after she made it abundantly clear that she was NOT an easy person to work with. Finding someone with a passion for inventing on par with her own was not something one ran into very often in this world dominated by magic—so to a certain degree, she had respect for Mikael, and as a result wasn’t completely dismayed with the idea of having him follow her around.

But that didn’t change the fact that she was a damn harsh tutor, and made Mikael do a lot of grunt work—like carrying all those bags.

Behind her, she could hear someone offering to take some of Mikael’s bags for him.

“You know not to hand those bags off to anyone else, Mikael,” she said, without even looking back as she continued down the road.

Mikael sneezed loudly as the water droplets sprayed his face. But at the reply of his 'teacher' he hung his head and let out an exasperated sigh in defeat. Cruel, cruel world. How much further would this place be they were traveling to. And, come to think of it, where the hell were they anyway?! He let out a sob. This was no fun adventure at all like the ones he had read about in his many books.

Suddenly he sensed a presence behind him, and his hand automatically reached for his handgun. The luggage on his back and shoulders however limited his movements, so he couldn't reach it. Nor could he see who that presence was. So with a cry he swung the heavy load around, hands up in some kind of...weird, made-up martial arts pose.

"Would you like a hand with that?" The creature asked politely, but all Mikael could do was stare at him in return. Not only did this creature posses a handsome face, attached to his back were two firm wings! Real ones! As real as the sun, the moon and peanutbutter!

"B-boss!! BOSS!! You gotta see this!!" he exclaimed, vividly pointing at the gentle creature. All his life he had dreamed of meeting one of the races he had read about which were able to fly. And now one stood before him!! He could barely keep his excitement. Maybe this would turn out in an adventure afterall! His eyes wide with happiness he danced around the creature, trying to view his wings from all angles, though he didn't dare to touch them.

He couldn't waste this chance! Lunging forward he grabbed the man's hand. Looking up at him in his eyes (such gorgeous eyes!!) he asked in a gentleman's voice, "What is a most beautiful person like yourself doing all alone in the woods?" he flashed him one of his most charming smiles, "Please allow me to escort you, as my gentlemanly heart wouldn't be able to stand the thought of letting you travel all alone." he melancholically pointed at his heart with his free hand.

[[seriously, the comparisons he makes are ridiculous.]]

The man did a strange dance. No-- wait, I must have startled him. The stranger struck a awkward pose in a possible attempt to be artful. “You know not to hand those bags off to anyone else, Mikael,” the woman said. Zithen glanced over to her, she just kept walking though. Her hair was carried by a light gentle wind, and her long legs dared to go on strong even with heels. Her large white coat made her seem to be a scientist, and the dirty jockey following her appeared to be her henchmen. The two made a great couple. Zithen glanced at the woman in disdain, not moved by her beauty. The bags must be filled with things that are of importance to her. Either that or she's just a bitch. His nose wrinkled up slightly, but he resisted to bear his teeth. Right now, he was supposed to be a gentleman to the strangers. That was a choice he made when he came here, and he would see it though.

He glanced back to the man he offered to help, who was now eyeing him in silent thought after doing his strange defensive reflex. Zithen blinked his yellow eyes a couple times to see if he would do anything. His bangs covered one side of his face though. Zithen retracted his hands, put them to his side casually and eyed the man with a questionable, and nearly confused glare. Has he never been offered help before or something? He sure was acting unusual.

"B-boss!! BOSS!! You gotta see this!!" Zithen got pointed at, and pranced around. As long as he wouldn't touch him, he didn't react. Zithen didn't place any effort to have his head follow the dancing monkey as he thought of him to be. Apparently there was some kind of fascination that was entrancing the man. Zithen put up an act of embarrassment-- though he was actually annoyed by the two's company. Zithen placed his hand behind his head and cracked a small smile.

It wasn't long before the man broke his invisible space bubble. Zithen's hand was grabbed and looked at with sparkling eyes of wonder, and curiosity. How dare he touch me. His hands were cold, like they usually were, even though it was such a hot day. For some reason they were always like that. Though, so far, the man was still in his own fantasy world, so he probably wouldn't even notice. "What is a most beautiful person like yourself doing all alone in the woods?" The two corners of Zithen's lips dropped. Beautiful? What an odd man. I've never been called... beautiful before. He didn't know if he should take it as an insult or a compliment. "Please allow me to escort you, as my gentlemanly heart wouldn't be able to stand the thought of letting you travel all alone." Zithen didn't know what to do, he just stared at the man- who now had his own hand upon his chest. But as soon as the strange moment passed, Zithen's mind came back. That was a weird ride while it lasted. Zithen merely replied with a monotone voice, "I can take care of myself, thank you." He tried saying so while being polite. He took back his hand, and the keys on his sleeve rattled as he did so.

The Creator just wanted to get out of the heat and get to her lab. But no, her student had to have a ridiculous attention span and get distracted by…whatever. She turned around, looking to see what had gotten her student so excited.

She looked at the Cratile a moment, as if she had perhaps recognized him. There was always that brief moment she had when it came to Cratiles. However, when she established that the Cratile was not someone she knew, she shook her head.

“Mikael, he’s just a Cratile. Don’t tell me you’ve never seen one before,” she said with a sigh, unimpressed. “They’re hardly obscure.”

The Creator pulled her glasses off momentarily to clean them off on her lab coat. Despite the heat, she never took the lab coat off.

“I’ve already…well studied the anatomy of Cratiles,” she murmured, pushing her glasses back on with a long, elegant finger. “Leave the man alone.”

"I can take care of myself, thank you." the... the... 'Cratile' replied. Mikael stared at him in awe. He had never met such a magnificent person before. The folded wings looked leathery, with a deep reddish brown colour, and decorated with belts and pearl piercing which made the human curious to their purpose. It was true he had never met a Cratile before, he hardly ever left his workshop and was usually too lost in thought about his machines to pay attention to his surroundings.

“Leave the man alone.” his teacher ordered and Mikael sulked. This man, he would be able to fly would he not? What a rush would that be... flying through the clouds chasing rainbows. He suddenly got a dreamy look on his face as his first excitement settled and got replaced by a feeling of respect and... longing?

"I'm sorry about my earlier behaviour..." He then said, scratching the back of his head, "Please allow me to properly introduce myself." the luggage shifted as he bowed slighlty with a hand over his heart, "My name is Mikael Lucas, engineer for hire with a slight obsession for anything that can fly." He grinned widely with his hands proudly in his sides. Then something equally interesting caught his eye, "Oh, and it seems you're being followed." He pointed at a small, black .. lizard-like... creature gazing at them from the bushes a few feet away. He had never seen anything like it either.

[[He's referring to Tatsukie... is it okay like this? ^^; ]]

Mikael introduced himself and Zithen replied, "Flying is it? I guess it is a common trend with many humans as they are Earth bound." He casually bowed his head slightly with a hand on his chest. "I'm Zithen Mikelru, I'm the lead guard at the criminal's jail in Vorrian." He sneered. "There was over-staff today so I'm here wasting my day away."

They both turned to the bush. "Tatsukie, what on the world are you doing over there? Come here this instant," Zithen commanded. It walked on all four of it's small legs awkwardly, which was shaped like a dog's. It had a long body which separated the the legs. A long tail and neck, and a small but proportioned head. Spiked red hair on it's head and back of the neck, on the back of his tail and on the tip as well. Even though it was odd for a dragon, it did have fur, though this was an exception on the wings. The wings were black and featherless like Zithen's. As it was very small it tried to glide over but landed, it glided again- landed and repeated. It was like a man trying to fly a kite without any wind. When it was close to Zithen he picked it up, and it perched somewhat on his arm, before making his way to Zithen's shoulder. Zithen held up a palm to the dragon. "And this... is Tatsukie." Zithen gave a genuine smile as Tatsukie wrinkled his face to bear his wolf like fangs. His fur was standing on end like a cat's.

Zithen didn't care much about the woman, since she was being rude. But he was curious anyway and wanted to stall her time-- it didn't matter where she was going or why. He just wanted to bother her more than it seemed like he currently did. His eyes narrowed to her as he asked, "And who's she?" He asked as if she couldn't.. or wouldn't- speak for herself.

God, she couldn’t believe Mikael had never seen a Cratile before. She kept pretty damn secluded too, and had spent much of her life in the rather not-supernatural-friendly city of Tasera, but even she had seen Cratiles before. Then again, she’s lived considerably longer than Mikael.

The Creator made a passing glance toward the creature that scurried out of the bushes, expecting to be just as overwhelmed as she was toward the Cratile. However, upon seeing the little dragon, her eyes widened a little with interest and even a little grin crossed her slender lips. She had a fondness for little scaly creatures. Maybe she should replace Mikael with a little dragon…

“My name is The Creator.” She answered for herself—as expected. Her attention, however, was still on the little dragon. “That’s a fine little creature you have there. Looks like one of my own beasties.”

The Creator occasionally made little passing mentions of some type of ‘pets’ she had. However, they never actually seemed to be around.

She then glanced momentarily at Mikael and shook her head. “I can’t believe you’ve never seen a Cratile before. Crazy boy,” she said, before turning her attention back to the dragon, her finger pressed against her chin thoughtfully. Because it was far more interesting than the other two.

"She's my mentor." Mikael explained as he kept his eyes curiously on the small creature hissing at them. He knew cats. Was this some kind of cat? He cocked his head to the side, rubbing his chin. It did have fur. Hm. Did a cat mate with a lizard or something? He turned a little pale as the images in his mind creeped him out. He shook his head harshly to clear his mind, his dreadlocks flying all around him, only kept in place by the metal pipes and accesoires weaved into his hair.

"We're on our way to meet someone to show our plans for building a flying machine!" the mechanic blabbered on happily, he hadn't talked to anyone in a while, and the Creator was no fun. "Creator! Boss!"He gestured for her to walk over, "Show him the map! Show him! Maybe he knows where we are!" They had been walking for ages and Mikael had started to suspect that they had gotten lost.

"My boss is pretty awesome you know, she has it all figured out!" He whispered as she walked over, his eyes sparkling at the idea of a flying machine. He had only caught a glimpse of the design, but his mind remembered every detail. Soon he would be the captain of his own flying air ship! He knew it for sure! He grinned goofily to himself and did a little happy dance at the thought.

Tatsukie had stopped hissing, but it still perched on Zithen's right shoulder. The Creator's attention to Tatsukie made Zithen feel uneasy. He put his right hand on Tatsukie's head and pressed back slightly, as if to hide Tatsukie from view from the both of them and to also tell Tatsukie to stay back. The little dragon pressed his head on his hand like a cat would and smothered his head on it. His two long horns were straight and pulled back so it couldn't really poke anyone with hit. After it started to cling on his back and had his head resting between his arms, Zithen put his hand down.

"We're on our way to meet someone to show our plans for building a flying machine!"

"A flying machine?" Zithen thought for a moment. What was the use for such inventions when there was magic? Magic always upstaged science for most people. There was hardly explanation for most magic, and things just happened by a will of a spell. But magic did have it's imitations... Who knows, maybe these inventors were onto something great, and Zithen did love machines and gadgets.

"My boss is pretty awesome you know, she has it all figured out!" Mikael whispered.

Zithen whispered too-- but intended for his own ears. "Yes, everything along with getting lost." He figured that she was the prideful type and wouldn't want anything to do with getting help. He glanced over to The Creator to see if she was still showing interest in the dragon. Zithen did not feel comfortable with her. Her name, how she held herself... She didn't really talk straight to Zithen, other than saying her name and commenting on his pet, but even then- she was still talking about herself. She talked down to him, like he was of no interest at all to her, for they were a rather common, and sturdy race. Zithen kept conscious about this and tallies on her.

“We’re not lost,” The Creator muttered. As much as she liked to talk about herself and her inventions, she was more interested in getting toward their destination at this point and was quickly getting tired of this conversation. She was more than ready to turn around, tell Mikael to get his ass moving, and continue down the road. However, at the moment she was about to turn, a painful muscle spasm ran through her left leg.

The Creator hid pain well: she quickly raised her hand as if to wipe off sweat from her brow, when in fact, she was hiding her eyes as she shut them forcefully. Other than that, she did not wince or show any other sign of pain. The shooting pain stopped, and she lowered her arm, but a stiffening ache lingered in her muscles.

Damn this body.

“Well, since we’re stopped here anyway, we might as well take a break,” she said, letting out a sigh as if annoyed by the thought. Well, truly, it did annoy her, but she knew she needed to sit down for a while.

She waved her hand halfheartedly in Mikael’s direction as she stepped off the dirt road. “Put the bags down somewhere, carefully, and you can keep chit chatting with your new friend.”

Why the hell weren’t there any big rocks or such along this road? With no choice, The Creator sat down in the grass under the shade of a tree to get out of the sun. She crossed her long legs out in front of her—sore leg on top of the other—and leaned her back against the tree.

[[Short post, sorry! Didn't know what to write ^^;; We should do some plottage~]]

Mikael obeyed happily, and carefully set down the luggage, flailing a bit as the change of weight brought him off balance. He didn't notice her pain, he was an oblivious guy like that. But if he had known he would have been all over her, not minding to carry her around together with the luggage as well. Instead all of his attention was turned to Zithen and the little creature on his shoulder.

"Sooo... where were you headed yourself, Zithen?" the rusty haried man spoke as he plopped down in the soft grass, thankful for this moment of rest for his aching feet. He glanced up and observed the large bundle of keys the other man had with him with curiousity. "Those are not the keys to your home, I presume?"
