PostPost subject: River Aquila Reply with quote

Name: River Aquila

Age: 20
Age Appearance: About the same

Gender: Male
Species/Race: Fortune Teller

Appearance:

(lol, he's real subtle…)

Personality: There is no light way to put this: River is a manslut. His addictive personality leads him to drink too much, party too much, and sleep around WAY too much. He’s also addicted to opium on top of that. It’s a miracle he ever actually gets any work done.

One might assume someone like River wouldn’t be particularly bright, but when he ISN’T engaging in not-so-healthy habits, River actually loves to read and is rather book-smart. There are definitely two very different sides to River—the River running out trying to get laid is a very different person from the everyday-life River. River is very wild and lacks self-control in the party world, but in everyday life is much calmer and softer…although some of that may just be from opium. His self-esteem has always been less-than-perfect, and that tends to come out more in everyday life through nervousness and anxiety over little things.
Regardless though, River is always flirtatious—just less in everyday life than he is when partying.

When it comes to Sky, River is pretty accepting of who she is, but sometimes gets a little nervous about her boyish ways because, well…when she does get into trouble, that tends to be the reason why. He does sometimes wish she would dress and act a little more like her actual gender—and sometimes he teases her, but he would never force her. He’s hardly one to talk, anyway—they’re both flawed, and if he isn’t trying to get her out of trouble, than she is trying to get him out of trouble.

History: River and Sky’s parents owned a rather lucrative business in Dletia, meaning they had the pleasure of growing up in a rich family with a nice house and everything they could want. Unfortunately, their family life wasn’t exactly the happiest.

River and Sky’s mother died while they were fairly young—enough that they hardly remember her. Their father fell into a bad depression after this, and tended to take out much of his anger and sadness out on the two children—more so Sky than River.

River loved his sister of course, as all Fortune Tellers love their siblings, but River lacked self-esteem and was too afraid to stand up to their father for her sake—something he very much regrets. River hardly got the amount of physical and verbal beatings their father gave to Sky—even if it was really obvious that River probably misbehaved more than Sky. He got started on his current bad behaviors as a young teen, when he started fooling around with maids and butlers and was introduced to opium and alcohol through them.

When Sky and River were 17, their father died of a heart attack. Out of spite, their father left his entire fortune to a relative and left them absolutely nothing. Even though Sky and River really did nothing to deserve such harsh treatment, the rest of the family simply assumed they must have did SOMETHING for their own father to leave them nothing, and completely disregarded them.

The two lived with some of the butlers and maids that used to work for them for a while as they tried to figure out how they could live on their own. The twins are still close friends with some of the butlers and maids…or in River’s case, “friends.”

The two were at a loss at first, as they had no real skills beyond their ability to see into the future. They knew that Fortune Tellers did not respect those who used that power for money, but feeling that they really had no choice and did not want to mooch off of their friends for too long, they tried it.

Their ‘business’ grew surprisingly fast. River didn’t know how Sky did it, but she was excellent at ‘discreet advertising’ their little operation, and since it was so rare to find Fortune Tellers willing to look into the future for a fee, people were more than willing to pay a lot of money to speak with the two. The greater their reputation became, the more money they could ask for.

The two have been doing their little ‘job’ hidden amongst the streets of Dletia, tucked away in a back alley hardly anyone would look into unless they knew what they were looking for. They easily live off of the profits they make fortune telling now.

Occupation/Job: Sky and River are Fortune Tellers who…do fortune telling. For a rather large sum, they will look into your future.
Interesting Facts/Quirks: River is actually very interested in writing, and has entertained the thought of getting published, but he always wimps out before actually doing it; never feeling that he is good enough and unable to stand the thought of being rejected. River has a lot of writing hidden away that he hasn’t let anyone read—not even Sky.

Hobby/Hobbies: Writing, reading, partying, drinking, sex, opium, collecting fancy opium pipes.

Like: Hanging out with Sky, long hot baths, rolling around in silk sheets, mystery books, men and women of all different looks and races, men and women who wear glasses.

Dislikes: Leaving Dletia (going to new cities makes him nervous. Luckily for him, they rarely travel.), fighting, blood, 'gross' things in general (squeamish!)

Strength: As long as they are near each other, Sky and River are both very talented with their powers as Fortune Tellers. They can see into exact points into the future, and rarely have dissatisfied customers. Even if a customer is unhappy with what they hear, the future is never 100% predictable, and Sky and River are both quite bright, so they can usually pinpoint things that their customers can do to alter their ‘inevitable’ future and create a new path.

River is more physically strong than Sky, but completely lacks any training concerning fighting.

Weakness/Flaw: Like most Fortune Tellers, he has slow reflexes and lacking in magic beyond seeing into the future. River also doesn’t have the greatest self-esteem in the world, and sometimes beats himself up over small things.
