PostPost subject: Dante "The horse" Ho’elun Reply with quote

Name: Andante 'Dante' Ho’elun

Age: 33
Age Appearance: 30

Gender: Male
Species/Race: Elemental User [Air-Wind]

Appearance:
With his hair a wild mane of pale blond, unkempt and left to grow as it pleases, piercing golden eyes, Dante is avoided whenever he steps into town. His lean, yet muscled body is quite unlike that of most of his fellow Elementalists. His many ventures into the lap of mother nature have left him with a bit of a tan and quite a nice selection of scars. His behaviour and looks often raise questions amongst people. Is he truly one of the reborn monks?

Personality:
As wild and uninhibited as his Zodiac animal, Dante often makes his camp outside of settlements. He despises crowds and the scents they bring him, preferring to stay in the unpolluted air. He hates being restricted to anything, which is what caused him to be in his current situation in the first place. Despite all this, he is not a loner. In fact, it is the opposite which is true. Dante has the need to surround himself with people, to be in a community where he can live and work and just exist with other people. He has tried several times to belong somewhere, but his nomadic ways of being and dislike of towns cause trouble every single time. People do not understand him and his ways, thus he is rejected and avoided.

The fact that he looks quite intimidating isn't helpful either. All he really wants is a place where he can belong without changing who he is. A place where he can run, like he loves to do, work for a living and just pass the time.

Though not an overly violent character, Dante does possess a temper. In his past dealings with people, both in towns and on the road, he has always tried to approach them carefully, communicate with them and perhaps gain a mutual agreement. Most of the times though, he was rejected, causing him to become angry. He is hurt easily, but when it happens, he covers it up by lashing out at those that caused his pain. And the image of a large, muscled man with golden eyes and winds raising up behind him is not an easy one to forget.

History:
Before he became a monk, Dante lived with his family in a nomadic tribe. He was a messenger for them, conveying letters and small items from his tribe to the neighbouring ones in return for some pocket money. He loved his job, seeing as it let him run all over the plains without anyone trying to reel him in. However, the plains are a quite dangerous place to be, even for the tribes of old. And so, one day, he returned to find the encampment burned to the ground, bodies of the men and older women littering the burned earth. Some had obviously given their life to release the horses, the tribes pride and joy. However all children and younger woman were taken, leaving no question as to who had done this. Slave Traders.

He ran back to warn the other tribes, pushing his grief away for the moment. By the time he reached them, they had already seen the smoke and where in the middle of packing up. They escaped safely and send runners to the other tribes, and none were hit like the Ho’elun tribe. They offered him sanctuary for a while, but he grew restless and wanted to retrieve the horses before they grew completely wild, so he left them.

Over two years later he had finally managed to capture all of the proud animals, bringing them to the Ho’eluns sister tribe for safe keeping and care, before he left again. He didn't know what to do without his parents for guidance, until he ran into a young man dressed as a monk. He was 11 years old at this moment, and the man offered him food and a place to sleep in return for an errand to be ran. He accepted and quickly grew to love the life at the monastery. He got to run around to do errands for the monks, had a place to stay if he wished and was allowed to leave if he so desired. He adapted quite well to the religious aspects, as he had never been through the ceremony of adulthood his tribe reserved for such events.

And then the storm came, with it, the man who had killed him and his brothers. He had not liked the man, and his mother would have said that his scent would make a horse bolt from his sight. However, as he himself had once enjoyed the hospitality of the monks without any suspicion, he stayed silent. A mistake, in retrospect, as he could barely utter a word before the pain took him.

When he was reborn, he found himself with a tattoo of his most beloved animal and the ability to run even faster and farther than ever before. He had to give up some of his muscles though, and is quite a bit more slender. He rejoiced in his life, mourned the dead and did his best to adapt to the new changes. He's not doing to well, however.

Occupation/Job: Nomad, messenger.
Interesting Facts/Quirks: Tends to toss his hair if he is annoyed, aligning himself with his totem animal. Prefers to run on his bare feet even in winter.
Hobby/Hobbies: Running, working.

Like: Horses, the plains, nature, the wind itself.
Dislikes: Slave traders, storms, Raven.

Strength: His speed, his height and his ability to calm animals.
Weakness/Flaw: His inability to adapt to his situation, social skills and temper.

Anything else to add: He is currently owner of a horse, descendant to the ones his tribe bred. The were bred for speed and durability, best worked when on the open plains.
